April 30th Tuesday - Zoom - Multi-club Competition
All members of the Boston, Gateway, Newton and Stony Brook Camera Clubs are participating in the friendly 5th Annual Multi-Club Competition to be hosted online on April 30, 2024, 7:00-9:30 PM. The categories for this year's Multi-Club Competition have been agreed to by the four clubs as follows:
1. Abstract Expressionism
2. Complementary Colors
3. Curves
4. High Key/Low Key
5. Music
6. Seasons
7. Street Photography
8. Tender Moment
May 2nd - Franklin - Image of the Year Competition
May 9th - Franklin - New Member Showcase
May 16th - Zoom - "Show and Tell"
Women vs Men Photo Challenge June 6, 2024
Submit images by May 31, 2024
On January 25, 2025, women club members were paired with a male club member, and the two were randomly assigned a category. You may interpret the category as you wish, and you can use images taken at any date. Images must be submitted by May 31, 2024 at midnight (submission instructions will be sent out before then).
The Challenge will be held on June 6, 2024 both at the Church and on Zoom. Women images will be shown side-by-side with their male counterpart, where 2 judges (one female, one male) will evaluate and pronounce the winner. The overall Women vs Men winner will be tabulated and announced at the end of the evening.

SPECIAL WORKSHOP: Night Photography (Field Session) with Mark Bowie Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 7-10 pm
FYI - Mark Bowie was our guest speaker on April 18th!
Night photography specialist Mark Bowie will lead a field trip to photograph nightscapes at East Brimfield Lake (one one hour from Franklin) and possibly nearby ponds, including Long Pond and Holland Pond on Saturday, April 27th from 7-0 pm. Mark plans to stay until at least 11 pm, so those wanting to stay longer are welcome. He will demonstrate field techniques and provide hands-on instruction for determining nighttime exposures, focusing in the dark, shooting the Milk Way, star trails, and "painting" with artificial light. Possible night sky targets include Orion and the Winter Circle, the northern arm of the Milky Way, and other stars and nebulae. Come explore the mystery, wonder and magic of the landscape at night!
Maximum participants: 15
Fee: $32 per member participant

Architecture Photo Walk in Woonsocket with Chuck Noel Saturday May 18th from 9 am-noon
This is for anyone interested in photographing the architectural living history of the Industrial Revolution in its environment (river, falls, mill buildings, mercantile buildings, railroad station, 1920’s restored theater, public buildings including the only remaining building that Abraham Lincoln spoke at in R.I.).
There will be a short info session at the start and Chuck will be a resource for photographing techniques/ideas for architecture and also for the local history as it relates to the buildings. Plan on walking about 2 miles round trip.
Maximum participants: 12, $15 per member

SBCC COVID-19 Policy
- Up-to-date COVID vaccinations in-line with CDC recommendations are mandatory in order to attend all in-person meetings, including indoor meetups and workshops. Members are on the honor system to comply.
- Face masks are optional.
- SBCC is pleased to offer a hybrid format for those meetings that will be held in-person this season. Any members not comfortable attending will always have the option of joining remotely via Zoom or a similar streaming format.
- We will keep current with trends and regulations and may change our policy as needed.
